WeTransfer's Price Increase: 5 Alternatives to Compare in 2026

Compare five WeTransfer alternatives by monthly price, file size and link lifetime. Separate historical renewal increases from the plan you can buy today.

If a WeTransfer renewal costs more than you expected, compare the replacement against your actual deliveries: package size, collection window, retained files, and number of senders. Check which bill you can cancel before counting any savings.

For occasional packages up to 50 GB, SwissTransfer's free offer may be enough. For recurring work, the paid options below offer different storage and retention allowances. RainFiles Drizzle is $5/month for 250 GB; it fits an individual sender whose links need to last no more than 15 days.

We publish RainFiles, one of the services below. This shortlist compares monthly billing, package limits, and how long clients can collect a delivery.

The price story began before 2026. WeTransfer announced its plan restructuring in December 2024, combining Pro and Premium into Ultimate. An archived migration notice says affected former Pro customers moved to the new price at renewal. Official announcement, archived migration notice.

In August 2025, Tweakers reported one subscriber's annual renewal rising from €120 to €228: a 90% increase. That is a reported customer case, rather than the increase on every account. Renewal report.

Compare the right monthly prices

These are selected offers checked on 26 October 2026. EUR and USD prices remain separate; taxes and exchange rates have not been normalized. Paid entries use monthly billing.

Option Displayed price Useful fit Main condition
RainFiles Drizzle $5/month Individual deliveries at a fixed subscription price 250 GB storage; links up to 15 days
SwissTransfer Free Occasional deliveries up to 50 GB Temporary links; extension rules apply
Smash Pro $10/month Frequent, large deliveries Up to 30-day retention
TransferNow Premium €10/month Deliveries needing a longer collection window 250 GB per transfer
Filemail Pro €14/month Individual senders retaining deliveries 250 GB per transfer

For context, the regional WeTransfer pricing recorded on 26 October 2026 showed Ultimate at €23/month. Check the current regional checkout and your renewal terms before comparing a new purchase. WeTransfer pricing.

1. RainFiles for regular client deliveries

RainFiles Drizzle costs $5/month for 250 GB, with unlimited transfer and download counts and links lasting up to 15 days. It fits individual senders whose retained deliveries fit within that allowance and whose clients collect within 15 days.

Downpour costs $15/month for 1 TB shared and unlimited members. It adds links without scheduled expiry while your subscription is active and the files remain stored, making it the better RainFiles plan for ongoing client access. Choose by your retained working set and collection window; unlimited counts refer to sends and downloads, rather than unlimited storage.

2. SwissTransfer for occasional free delivery

SwissTransfer is a practical first check when a client package fits its 50 GB ceiling. Its current rules provide 15 days initially, with an email-based extension allowing up to 30 days. Do not assume the longer period applies automatically. SwissTransfer limits.

Choose it when you need a temporary handoff rather than a persistent client library. If your normal package is 80 GB, splitting every delivery may cost more attention than a subscription saves.

3. Smash Pro for repeated large sends

Smash Pro lists $10/month, with unrestricted advertised transfer size and up to 30 days of availability. Its free tier puts transfers above 2 GB into a queue behind paid transfers. Pricing, subscription prices.

This suits a sender whose clients collect promptly. Test a realistic package before deciding: a size allowance says little about upload performance on your connection or the recipient's download experience.

4. TransferNow Premium for longer collection windows

TransferNow Premium offers 1 TB storage, 250 GB per transfer, and retention up to 365 days. The monthly option is €10; a smaller advertised monthly equivalent can require a longer prepaid commitment. TransferNow plans.

Consider it when clients return months later. Set a cleanup policy anyway: retaining each revision for a year uses space that would otherwise hold new jobs.

5. Filemail Pro for ongoing availability

Filemail Pro lists 1 TB, 250 GB transfers, and permanent availability on its current comparison page. Its comparison table also lists 20 downloads per transfer on Pro. Check how those downloads are counted, along with subscription and deletion conditions. Filemail comparison.

It is relevant when recreating an expired delivery is your main frustration. Ongoing hosting still belongs beside a separate source archive and a tested client workflow.

What to check before cancelling

Download an inventory of live jobs, record the dates clients still need access, and test the replacement with someone outside your company. Keep the old account active until those deliveries are complete or recipients have confirmed the new links.

If price is the problem, calculate a year of your actual workflow. A free tool can be enough for occasional small packages. A paid tool can be better value when it avoids repeated uploads and client support. Existing WeTransfer benefits may also make staying worthwhile.

For the separate capacity question, read what changed in WeTransfer storage. For the practical move, use the WeTransfer switching checklist.

Questions about WeTransfer pricing and alternatives

Did WeTransfer announce this price increase in 2026?

The restructuring and renewal examples discussed here date to 2024 and 2025. The year in this comparison identifies the alternatives being reviewed, not a newly established price increase. Your renewal notice is the evidence for your own account.

Which alternative is cheapest for occasional sends?

A free service can avoid a subscription if your package and collection window fit its limits. For example, SwissTransfer's 50 GB allowance can suit occasional delivery. Repeatedly splitting larger jobs or replacing expired links adds work that a headline price does not capture.

Will moving to a cheaper delivery tool reduce our total bill?

Only if it replaces spending or work you can actually remove. If you keep WeTransfer or another suite for separate features, the new subscription adds to that cost.
